Disposable mail that cannot send.
Take a numbered address, read what arrives, throw it away. In a test suite that is three requests, and one of them waits for you.
quiet-otter-k51724@mailbox.example
The shape of a real address. This one is illustrative and was never issued. Your own is minted on app.vanish.sx.
Three requests
-
Ask for an address
No account, no key. The response carries the address and the token that is the only way to read it.
$ curl -X POST https://api.vanish.sx/v1/inboxes {"inbox":{"address":"quiet-otter-k51724@mailbox.example", …}}
-
Wait for mail
The request blocks until something lands, up to 120 seconds, then returns it. A timeout is
204, not an error.$ curl https://api.vanish.sx/v1/inboxes/wait?timeout=60 -
Read it, and stop caring
Body, links and attachments, decoded. An hour later the message is deleted whether you read it or not.
$ curl https://api.vanish.sx/v1/messages/91204
What it will not do
This address stops working, and its domain is later released. Never use it for an account you want to keep.
Not for banking, email providers, or anything holding your money or identity.
